What’s new

Updates for the calculator’s AI module. The calculator installs them itself: Settings → Update firmware, over WiFi. Nothing is installed without that button.

Cleaner camera image

  • Cleaner camera image: the sensor setup has been fine-tuned, with less noise and fewer small distortions in the shot.
  • The calculator itself can now update over the air, like the module: when a new version comes out for it, «Update firmware» will offer it too. The screen goes dark for about thirty seconds; WiFi, PIN and language stay.
  • If power is lost in the middle of a calculator update, the module finishes it on the next power-up.

Long answers, survives drops

  • Long AI answers arrive: the module now waits up to about three minutes for a hard task instead of one, and shows "thinking 1:20" while the AI works.
  • If WiFi or the internet drops while the AI is thinking, the answer isn't lost: the device shows "no network, waiting" and picks it up once the network is back.
  • When no answer comes, the screen says why: the AI was too slow, WiFi is lost, or there is no link to the server.

Keep WiFi on, secure link

  • New "Keep WiFi" setting: after you leave AI mode the module stays on the network, so a phone hotspot doesn't switch itself off. Off / 30 min / 2 h / 5 h, 30 min by default.
  • The server connection is protected: the device checks the server certificate, so requests can't be intercepted on someone else's network.
  • If the network isn't found right away, the device keeps looking and reports when it connects.
  • The pairing code appears even if the first attempt to reach the server failed.
  • Updates no longer roll back when a photo is stored on the device or the router is slow to connect.
  • Network names and passwords with a leading or trailing space are accepted as typed.
  • Connects to phone hotspots set to WPA3 or WPA2/WPA3.
  • A guest network that asks you to log in on a web page now shows "WIFI NEEDS A LOGIN" instead of a generic upload error.
  • Network search finds networks even right after a failed connection attempt.
  • A new password for the same network is checked right away, not at the next power-up.
  • Taking a photo no longer waits for the server on a slow WiFi.
  • When the calculator charges from a computer, the module no longer disturbs the computer's USB.

More reliable server link

  • Safer server address handling: the device only accepts Logarum addresses and returns to the built-in one if a new address stops answering.
  • A question is retried on the built-in address if the server cannot be reached.

How to update

  1. Connect WiFi in the calculator’s settings. If the battery is low, the calculator asks for USB.
  2. Settings → Update firmware... → [CHECK], then [INSTALL].
  3. About a minute. Keep the calculator on; if the new version fails to start, the calculator goes back to the previous one by itself.
