Getting started

Four steps, about ten minutes, and you do them once.

What you need

1. Sign in

Type your email on the sign-in page and tick the box. A link arrives by mail; clicking it signs you in.

There are no passwords anywhere in this system. Nothing to forget, nothing to reuse, nothing to steal from us.

2. Put the calculator on your WiFi

Press MODE, choose 3 SETTINGS, then the WiFi row. Choose Find networks..., pick yours, type the password on the on-screen keyboard and choose Connect. When it is done, the screen says connected.

The first row of the settings, Язык / Language, switches the calculator between Russian and English.

Two things that catch people:

The radio only sees 2.4 GHz. That is the hardware, not a setting. If your router broadcasts two names — something like Home and Home_5G — you need the first one. If it broadcasts one name on both bands, the calculator will find it anyway.

Typing a password one letter at a time is tedious, and we know it. It is the worst part of the setup and it is on the list to fix.

3. Pair the calculator

Press MODE, choose 2 AI MODE. The screen shows a large pair code — five characters.

Type those five characters on the Devices page here. Within a few seconds the calculator picks up its credentials and is ready — you do not need to press anything on it.

The code is good for 15 minutes. If it expires, leave AI mode and come back; a fresh one appears.

4. Take a shot

In AI mode, aim at some text and press the shoot key.

The calculator says hold still for about four seconds — that is the camera finding focus, and moving during it produces a blurred frame. Then got it, can move: the picture is taken and you can lower the calculator while the answer is on its way. About twenty seconds later the answer is on the screen; and scroll it.

The first answer starts the calculator's free month: 30 days or 300 requests on our keys, basic models only. After it, requests are paid from your balance on the Billing page, at the prices on the Pricing page.

The whole request appears under History — the photo, the answer, the tokens and its price.

Choosing a model

MODE3 SETTINGSModel. Pick a provider, then flip through its models with and : each one shows its price as a word, what it is good at, and whether it can see a photo. moves to the bar at the bottom, and SELECT makes it the model the calculator uses. The top right corner of AI mode always names the model in use.

on the calculatormodelsees a photo
GPT LUNAgpt-5.6-luna — the default, reads text wellyes
GPT TERRAgpt-5.6-terra — maths and reasoningyes
GEM FLASH-LITEgemini-3.5-flash-lite — light and quickyes
GEM PROgemini-3.1-pro-preview — Google's strongest, still a previewyes
DS FLASHdeepseek-flash — the cheapest; reads small text worseyes
DS PROdeepseek-v4-pro — text onlyno

A model that cannot see cannot be given a photo: its Photo line goes dark and only your question is sent. A photo you already took is kept for when you switch back.

During the free month only the basic models answer — they are marked on the Pricing page. If a premium model is selected and the balance cannot pay for it, the basic model of the same provider answers, and the first line of the answer says so.

Your own AI keys (advanced)

Have your own OpenAI (platform.openai.com), Google Gemini (aistudio.google.com) or DeepSeek (platform.deepseek.com) account? Add its key on the My keys (advanced) page and choose My keys on the Billing page. Requests are then billed to your account with that provider, and we charge nothing. Each key is checked against its provider before it is saved, so a typo is caught while you are looking at the field rather than twenty seconds into a shot.

With your own keys, History shows what the provider charges. DeepSeek charges twice as much in its peak hours (01:00–04:00 and 06:00–10:00 UTC on weekdays), and the history follows that.

When something goes wrong

The calculator shows the reason in words rather than a code, because the wording comes from the server and can be improved without touching the firmware.

If the calculator stops responding entirely, ON switches it off and on again.

What survives that, and a flat battery too: the WiFi network and password, the prompt you typed, the model, the language and the contrast. They are kept in memory that holds its contents without power, so you never set those up twice.
